  • 1.  APSB16-01 will not install both plugin and activex

    Posted Jan 11, 2016 12:01 PM

Hi, we have been using patch management to do windows patching for some time now, I just started to play with patching some of the Adobe products using patch management. I have download APSB16-01 and created a distrubition packeage for it. I then assigned to my test boxes. It seems that it will either patch the plugin or the active x but it won't patch both. Anyone else have this problem or am I missing something?

    Thanks in advance.

I went live with this bulletin last night and it installed activex and plugin to roughly 75% of our Enterprise. Seeing the reports it bgan promptly at 3 AM and 54 seconds, the latest install was 3:07 AM. About 15 seconds in between installing activex and plugin.

If you wait it out will you targets eventually receive both? Give it 24 hours and see if your test targets will receive both activex and plugin. But waiting that long to me is unusual.

Another thing taht came to mind. Do your targets have both activex and plugin pre-installed? Or do they have one or the other?

Hi, we have both Adobe Flash Player ActiveX and Adobe Flash Player NPAPI install on all workstations however it is a couple versions behind at 19.0.0.226. We have beening using software deployments by using the msi from Adobe. Right now it seems the ActiveX installs but I can't seem to get the NPAPI to install. Here is STPatchAssessment.xml entires...

    </Product><Product Name="Adobe Flash 20" SP="Gold"><Item Class="Patch" BulletinID="APSB15-32" SQNumber="QAF2000228" Superseded="true" PatchName="install_flash_player_20_active_x2000228.exe" Applicable="true" Status="Effectively Installed"/><Item Class="Patch" BulletinID="APSB16-01" SQNumber="QAF2000267" Superseded="true" PatchName="install_flash_player_20_active_x2000267.exe" Applicable="true" Status="Effectively Installed"/><Item Class="Patch" BulletinID="APSB16-01" SQNumber="QAF2000270" Superseded="false" PatchName="install_flash_player_20_active_x2000270.exe" Status="Installed"/></Product>

So if I am reading this correctly, it looks like the assessment detects that 19.0.0.226 is installed, because the Applicable = true. Then it trys to install 19.0.0.245 and 20.0.0.235 but they are superseded. It then detects that 20.0.0.267 is missing. I waited over night but it still hasn't installed it. This is what the patch looks like. I then have my policy assinged to my test workstations

I must be missing something. We are running 7.6HF7.

Did this get resolved? We are seeing issues with this update as well.

    Thank you!

I opened a call with Symantec and it got sent to the dev team, however it started working on the next patch release. 20.0.0.286. So my guess is they changed something in the detection rules.
