This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hello,
While attempting to delete an archive today I got the following error:

Could not delete the archive 'Homedrive 123' because the Storage Service on 'Vault1.lab.com' is not running
Start the service and try again

So the service is running and I restarted it for grins, still no help.
There are no errors in the Event logs
The server is not in read-only mode
Running USL showed all services were healthy
I was able to delete an archive last week on the same server

This is an FSA archive on W2k3 std sp2 x64 running EV 2007 SP5.

I am wondering if anyone has seen this before, it is a first for me.

Thanks,
Travis

Try a restart of the admin

Try a restart of the admin service. It will restart all the EV services. then try to do your delete again

Hey Liam, No go, still gives

Hey Liam,
No go, still gives the same error. I also had the DBAs make sure that we were not seeing any SQL errors and we are not.
Thanks!
Travis

GOT IT!!

Ok this is a bit crazy! So the error mentions the Storage service so of course my focus was on the services. I dug a bit deeper into the archive itself and noticed that the default perms for the VSA were showing up as unknown acct. So I then added the VSA in with delete rights and it is now working..
