you can control the setting for archiving deleted items (and/or drafts) from the mailbox policy on the advanced tab.

and then it will be executed the next time archiving job runs or directly on demand (this is preferred) ?

you can check the sync schedule times on the mailbox archiving task properties but if you want to do it on demand (aka 'run now') then run a sync manually before you start the task.

John,

All the policy changes reflect after the mailbox synchronization runs(it is every 12 hours. 12am and 12pm). Just in case if your archiving schedule is set to run before the next synchronization, you may want manually perform the synchronization on  the mailboxes from the mailbox archiving task > properties > Synchronization

Thanks and Regards, Backup Exec, BESR, Enterprise Vault

many thanks for the reply guys, so in this case once the schedule synch executed successfully, those deleted items will be archived into EV ?

yes, once the changes to the policy have been applied (by the sync process running - either manually or by the set schedule) EV will archive the deleted items from the mailboxes under the policy (either when you manually run now or when the archiving schedule is set for your tasks)
