  • 1.  Are Install Packages supposed to be inheritable?

The answer appears to be "No" but I don't see this discussed in the KB or docs, so let me throw this out here:

When you assign an install package to a group (Clients Page, Install Packages tab) are these packages supposed to be inherited by subgroups (assuming inheritance isn't blocked)?  The GUI imples that they should be inherited, but it doesn't seem to work that way (they never show up in the sub-groups)...

    Install packages are not inherited.
If you have a lot of groups you will need to assign package to each of them.

You're assumption is correct.  They are not inheritable, by design.

Thanks, guys.  To amend this for anyone else who looks up this thread; for assigning to multiple groups it saves a lot of clicks to do it from the Admin screen (using the "Upgrade Groups with Package" wizard) than the clients page.
