    Hello,

    I have few Questions.

    1) What version of SEP are you carrying? Is that version 11.0.6005 or 11.0.6300?

    2) How many clients are installed with SEP?

    3) Are all the clients installed as Managed or Unmanaged? Do you see Green Dot on the Golden shield of Symantec (found on Shield icon in the System Tray)? Do you see these clients in the SEPM?

If not, then work on the Steps provided in tghe Symantec Article below:

Symantec Endpoint Protection: Troubleshooting Client/Server Connectivity

Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager 11.x Communication Troubleshooting

    Hi,

There can be multiple solutions for this.

    1) If SEPM is not updated it won't update clients as well.

    2) If SEPM is updated, Check windows firewall is enabled or not ? if yes create an exception ports for Symantec..

Verify whether the SEPM is updated , if yes then check for the client SEPM communication.

    open sepm

    admin

    servers

local site ( click on that)

at the bottom select show liveupdate downloads, this will tel u if sepm is updated or not

the version what u r using is very very very very old , this had loads of bugs, I would recommend to remove this version and install the latest one.

Installing Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0.6 (RU6) for the first time

    1. how to check whether SEPM is updated or not.

open the SEPM console, on the home page it will show the definition running.

    2. my version is 11.0776.942,

this is very old version of SEPM, you should be upgrading to the latest one.

    hi there,

I'd checked, I did as Rafeeq said, and found there is no entry. but in the update download, I found history the day I put jdb file.

for pete_4u2002, which line I need to make attention? because there is info last date is march 2011. but status update on clients not march 2011.

for upgrade software, am I need to buy new version? or there is free upgrade? I wonder why my current place not using new version, perhaps there is no one know (or understand) about this.

    thanks before

    Hi,

the status of the SEPM on virus definition. If the client is not updated with what SEPM has then post the sylink log.

The new version will be free of cost considering you are under license validitiy.

    Hi,

I would suggest uninstall your current SEPM which is very old version (if you have not configured any customized settings), install latest version.

Go through following link, you will get an idea about Symantec releases.

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/what-are-symantec-endpoint-protection-sep-versions-released-officially

Download latest version 11.0.6 MP3 at https:\\fileconnect.symantec.com, you would required serial number to download software.

Once you installed latest manager you will have to restore clients communication with manager.

You will have to run Sylink replacer tool to restore clients communication.

    Go through best practice guide.

You can deploy new version of SEP on client using the Auto upgrade feature. This is done through SEPM.

Upgrade will not remove any custom settings, however as due care take the back up of the SEP database.

    Hi,

You will have to manually run Sylink replacer tool, it will replace Sylink.xml (communication settings file) on the (mentioned ) clients. It's easy to use. Go through article for more details.

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/downloads/sylinkreplacer-tool-connecting-sep-clients-sepm

You can import and export setting from old one to new one.

Update referring to Virus definition, SEP client will get the updates from SEPM, unless you have changed the Liveupdate policy.
