Hi, I'm new to posting on here so here is a bit about my Altiris experience 1st
My company implemented Altiris 4 months ago as part of a large scale infrastructure refresh. We purchased the TMS solution but are not currently using everything.
My question is, We are trying to run reports on Microsoft Software which is installed in our environment. We have run reports but we are getting duplicate machine entries in the report. We also get these entries when adding machines to collections. Also the username against a lot of the machines is incorrect. My uderstanding was that it would display the most frequent user of the machine.
Could someone please help or point me in the right direction to someone who can help.

I have ran the Duplicate
I have ran the Duplicate Computer Merge task but when I search for computers to add to a collection for instance, I still see more than one machine with the same name. This could be with the same Domain name or one in the domain and one in a workgroup.
Try going to

How are you merging?
Check out how you are merging assets...
You can merged based upon Serial Number, System Number or both. Unfortunately, we have run into the fact that some assets are picked up on the network and basic inventory is not complete, meaning there is no Serial Number data returned.
This will return 2 assets with the same name, one with a Serial Number and one without. That being said, if you are merging based upon Serial Number alone, the assets will not merge (because one has a Serial Number and the other does not).
