Where can I find in the Symantec documentation how to automatically create assets of type "Systems"? All I can find is the description of what Systems are and how they relate to Services, I have worked out that I can create them manually one-by-one by right-clicking "Systems" and selecting "Create Systems" but I don't want to have to do over 200 server systems manually.

I want to link our Services with our Systems in a logical fashion. So the Email Service will depend on Systems Email Server 1, Email Server 2 and Email Server 3 for example. I've got Email Servers 1-3 in the database but how can I convert them to "Systems" so I can then make the Email Service dependent on them? Apart from creating them manually, I suppose I could use Data connector to import them as a list.

But it seems a bit daft having to export a list then import it, which would then have to be maintained manually. I can't find a Task or right-click action to do this and am wondering if I've missed something so obvious it's not even documented.

I guess you can find or identify your server by a Filter or Report?! Create a new CMDB Rule in the Connector. Resource type: Systems and Target using: Report, then link them by guid.

    Hi Sascha

Thanks for the reply, I don't think the CMDB rule you describe will create Systems, only Associations for existing Systems. What I wanted to do was work out how to create a list of Systems from the list of Servers automatically.
