Client Management Suite

Hi,

Hopefully a quick question that someone will know the answer to...

As the title suggests, we're trying to assign various clients or all clients at a particular site to a certain Task Server on another site/subnet.

We've read various articles about assigning subnets to other sites to use their Task Server but it doesn't seem to work and or be that straight forward.

Does anyone know exactly how this is done?

Say under "Sites" in "Site Management" we have two sites, A which has a task server and B that doesn't and we want the clients in B to use the task server on site A?

I'm interested in seeing this too since I'm currently on 6.x and have to build "site collections" to somewhat mimic what I think comes native in 7.x

As long as the clients are in a sunet that is assigned to the site B and the TaskServer also has an IP in a subnet that belongs to site B then any client will ONLY connect to the siteservers in this site. This is the default.

Additionally you can create your own collections and assign this collections manually to a specific site. Thena all clients in this site will get a siteserver from this site.

If a client is not in any site (manually or via any of its subnets) then he will connect only to the NS as the only task-server.

In Version 6 you manually have to assign collections to task-servers. The subnet-automation as described above does not exist there, but you can also use a collection that represents the subnet.

That's exactly what we did for v6... create a collection based on the site guid.  Nice little work around.

So in theory we could have a lot of different subnets with clients in and assign them to their own sites and also the site that contained the Task Server?
