Assistance with Creating Custom Report

Created: 04 Mar 2013 | 1 comment

Good Morning Everyone,

Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere, but I need assistance with reporting.  What I need to do is create a report to show any endpoints containing a particular folder on any possible connected disk.  For example, I need to see which systems have a folder named "MyData" on the C: drive, or any flash drive, external disk, etc.  Is it possible to do this and if so, could someone give me step-by-step instructions on how to accomplish this?  I'm very new to the reporting aspect of Altiris and do not know any SQL.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Joe,

I'm not sure you really need a report, at least not first.

What you should do is setup a custom inventory that checks for thios folder on any drives and reports the data back onto the SMP.

Once you have the custom inventory the data should flow into a dataclass table and reporting on this would then be very simple (as the table would contain the computers reporting this folder existence only).

I am currently off-net, on a retreat of some kind. I'll be back real soon, and you sure will hear from me then ;-).
