Hi all,

I was wondering if there was a workaround to associate more then 99 software components to a software product. The release notes of SMP 7.1 SP1 state this is a limitation.

Also when trying to create the filter criteria of a software product a message prompts this limitation: "Your search criteria resulted in more then 99 software components..."

Maybe its a simple as flipping a regkey from 0 to 1?

Im interested to hear how a piece of software has hit that limit.

This was my reaction to the first time I heard this, but it seems that one of my customers is using a piece of software which installs on each server under a different auto-generated ARP name: "<softwarename>-<servername>".

This results in an inventory of the application which is different on each server...

I would suggest a re-design of that naming convention then - no Software Product should even come close to having that many unique components.  Regardless, we are lifting that limitation in our next release (7.5).

Thanks for the response, but unfortunately this is not in-house software.

I will tell the customer to write a custom report for this exceptional application :)

I was just wondering if there was a way of disabling this built-in check for the 99 limit...
