Reinstalling PGP 8.1 in rebuilding MS XP, the license authorizing no longer recognizes my perpetual license. Any suggestions on getting the authorization to work or is this Symantec transition problem and I need to throw the app away?

For licensing issues, you need to contact Customer Care.

If it ask for a company name, use Authorized Company and for the user use Authorized user.

i am trying to get the universal server out of learn mode by licensing it,

i have a serial nimber but i cannot get the license number to activate it. please advice

Depending on what version of PGP Universal Server you are using. You can try the manual authorization. That should work. But you have to copy and paste the manual authorization code off your licensing information.

Also, if this is a 3.x universal server and a newly purchase license. You need to have "Authorized User" in the field for the License Name and "Authorized Company" for the company name. This is due to the changes in licensing to Symantec's licensing standard and the universal server license is no longer required to have your personal company information in there.

in the future, I would highly suggest creating a new forum thread/article vs replying to a very old one. You will get a lot more attention and visibility on your comment that way.
