"Do not scan files when trusted processes access the files."

    This is an auto-protect option.

Thus auto-protect does not scan files being opened by processes that are trusted. So for example if I'm opening a word document while my word is a trusted process then the word document is not scanned, right?

So what are the trusted processes? I've read that Windows Search is a trusted process.

Where can I find a list of trusted processes?

    Thanks,

    ph

    There is no list available

I believe its only Windows Search Indexer. Per this post from Symantec's Mithun Sanghavi:

"At the moment, the only trusted process is the Windows Search Indexer and it isn’t customizable."

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/auto-protect-trusted-processes

You will need to look into adding exceptions if you're having issue. Are you?
