Auto retry for oracle rman backups

Created: 15 May 2007 • Updated: 22 May 2010 | 1 comment
We are testing rman backups when scheduled thru netbackup.  I need to be able to verify that
if an rman backup fails for any reason, that netbackup will automatically retry the backup.  If during
my test, I cancel the job, will netbackup retry the job automatically?? If so, will it only backup the datafiles that either failed or weren't originally backed up or will it start from the beginning of the job and backup
everything???

When you cancel a job it will not retry.

I think you could try killing the process on the oracle client and netbackup would retry if it fails.
