    Dear All,

I am trying to get a Auto Start from Email component to work and I have set up the right settings for the POP3 server for it to poll. I start the debugger and then I send the email to the POP3 server, but the debugger does not execute. Does anyone know why this might not be working?

    Kindest regards,

Actually, this brings up a question... how do you debug an individual component - how do I know that my Auto Start from Email is actually doing anything at all?

Is it a Workflow Project, or a Monitoring Project?

On the Publishing tab there is a setting for Workflow Type. That should be set to Auto Start.

when you are runnig the debugger ther are 3 tabs under the Start Page dialog, The third tab controls when the Get Timeouts and Escalations runs. It is set for 15 secods, so if everything was working properly it should auto start ever 15 seconds. you can un-check the box there, and just click refresh when you want it to run.

You might also want to make sure the Generate hook for Auto run is checked - that is also on the Publishing tab towards the bottom.

    Rob,

Thanks for such a great little example. However, my Autostart seems to be set up like this. It is a Workflow and I have shown a picture of the settings:

I had a look at the Auto Start from email video and set it up like that.

    Does this help?

The pic is too small to read, can you publish again a little larger?

Regardless, The process will not start when an email is sent to the box. You need to set the schedule to check the mailbox.

In the debugger, click the refresh now button and see if there is anything is the logs. It may be the system is checking for mail and can't find any.

Lastly, you might want to change the from an Email auto start, to a configurable auto start. In the Configurable auto start you can put a pop3 component that will get the mail, and you can process it from there.

    Rob,

Interesting points, Rob. I have just set up the Auto Start from Email like the one in the WorkflowSwat video...

Here is a better version. I had not realised that the thumbnail would not click and open. Here it is again.

    Hi,

I'm having the same issue. Looks like workflow is not able to log-in to mailbox because it works fine, when e-mail is in use (I'm logged in  browser). The solution really might be to schedule for checking e-mail as Rob mentioned.

    Jakt,

Yes, I did what Rob suggested. It seemed to work in the Video, but not in Real Life!
