Created: 31 Dec 2012 | 7 comments

Dear All,

Am Upgrading my Symantec Endpoint version at my remote Site by making one machine as a web server using HFS tool.

It got sucessfull in some machine's. and in some machines it gave BFE(Base Filter Engine) error, i started the Service manually.

In HFS-HTTP its showed me the package has been Downloaded to few machines.

I Just want to know where the package is copied/Downloaded on the target Machine.

HI PETE,

Yes that Client report to SEPM.

Where should i check on the client side i need to check where the setup is Copied/Downloaded on the client machine.

I have checked on Root C:/ Drive and TEMP but unable to find the Symantec setup file.

I need the Directory or any specific location.

Hi,

Checked location

C:\windows\Installer folder

LiveUpdate Settings policy specifies that clients download updates from a Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager or Group Update Provider, the updates are in the form of microdefs. If the LiveUpdate Settings policy specifies that clients download updates from a LiveUpdate server, the updates are in the form of MSP (patch) files.

Thanks In Advance

once installed , the directory will be removed. It should be something like c:\clientpkg.

Hi Anil,

If we are using Client Deployment Wizard then it goes to C:\Windows\Temp folder but if using third party software installer then it might be at different location. You need to confirm at your end.

As a first step you can check at temp folder.

If you are using Auto Upgrade feature instead (assign new client packages to groups), it will be stored into Download or SmcLU folders, in SEP install directory (by default "C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection").

Please note that when updating SEP client like this, the format of the file transfered is not .exe.
