I need to create about 20 different servers (network monitors, detectors, etc..) and am looking for a way to somewhat automate it. I did some research and it looks like it will accept a response file -varfile [file] but I don't know how to create the file. Any help would be appreciated.

There is no silent installation ooption for the software, that is published or available.
I am a former employee of Vontu/Symantec and I have never see one.
If there is , it is internal to SYMC.
The problem with trying to automate this install (as much as I would like to as well) is there no way to specify the type of install you ar doing. The executable doesn't have a bunch of command line switches that would specify whether or not the install was a detection server, an indexer, or a single-tier install. There also isn't an XML file or anythig you can pass to specify these options either.
Sorry you will have to do an install for each site
