Automatic Antivirus Updates

Created: 31 Oct 2012 • Updated: 07 Nov 2012 | 7 comments
This issue has been solved. See solution.

We have 20 to 30 workstations with Symantec Endpoint Protection 11, provided by the US Gov't, installed (unmanaged) that are on a classified network.  Does Symantec have a product that could be purchase that could be installed on our Windows Update Server (for these workstations) that could automatically push antivirus updates to all of the workstations automatically? i.e., similar to the way our Windows Update Server automatically pushes Windows Updates to the workstations automatically?

You can use a GUP but the clients have to be managed. I'm not aware of another product to do this with unmanaged clients.

For unmanaged clients you can configure to do liveupdate through internet or you have to manage it to SEPM server.

Hello,

I would suggest you to Install Liveupdate Administrator, which could install updates to all your Unmanaged clients.

Yes..yes..you can update virus definition on your Unmanaged Clients using Liveupdate Administrator.

Liveupdate Administrator version 2.3.2 is the Latest version available and is freely available from Symantec Technical Support Team.

"Thumbs Up" to Mithun above, the LUA would be the best option if you needed an internal repository of definitions for unmanaged SEP Clients
