I have Symantic endpoint protection downloaded on my laptop and I am trying to ensure that it is recieving automatic updates when they are being pushed down. Is there anyway that I am able to verify that it is autmatically updating besides just re-updating the software mannually?

You can set a LiveUpdate schedule in the client

    Open the GUI

    Go to Change Settings

Click on Configure Settings to the right of Client Management

Select the LiveUpdate tab and edit accordingly to fit your needs

You should see in the client GUI what version of definitions is installed - just compare it with the released defs on symantec servers (you can check it here: http://www.symantec.com/security_response/definitions.jsp) - if these are the same you know your SEP client is up to date.

    Hello,

You can check the SEP client GUI if it is installed properly.

Secondly, you can check the System Logs from the SEP client as well if the Latest definitions have been installed properly or not.

SEP client >> View Logs >> Virus and Spyware Protection "View Logs" >> System Logs.

You can get a Computer Status reports and logs scheduled report for Virus Definition Rollout (Snapshots) - This report is available as a scheduled report only.

    Check these Articles:

    About log types http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO27271

About the different types of Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager Reports

    Hope that helps!!
