  • 1.  automaticly update group in SEPM

    Hello,

Is there a way to automatically update the group a client is member of?

If i would install a sep client with no group defined in the sylink.xml it would be placed in the default group. Can i somehow have these clients automatically be placed in the correct group with the correct policies depending on ip range / OS / registry keys? (i know such a mechanism does exist to define the GUP clients.)

Imagine you have multiple sites and laptop users. For each site you create a group but you want your laptop users to be dynamically placed in the correct group depending on the site they currently are.

I know there is something called the location awareness mechanism, but i thought this was to determine weather or not a computer is on the company network and this is not a way to move a client in the correct group in the SEPM?

Are you trying to move the clients to a particular group based on the location. If it is a one time job you can use the above method suggested by Refeeq. In this case you have to update the IP address range in that txt file.Remember in this method clients will move to those corresponding group when that script is executed only.If you are trying to implement for mobile computers it s better to use location awareness so that you can specify the policies required in each location...
