    Hi all,
I'm able to create a ISO with winpe and then I use UltraISO to edit the startnet.bat file to include switch commands for ghost32.exe. I then add my .gho and .ghs image to the iso, and then re-save it. For testing, I use a VMWare environment and boot from CD using the ISO image I saved. WinPe starts and ghost starts, but it doesn't do what I've told it to do, and when I look for my image files, they are not there. I'm trying to create a DVD with all of the above to give to my fellow techs for off-site re-imaging.
Anyone have any idea of why the image files are not there and why ghost does not automatically start the cloning process? I'd like to have this completely automated so they can walk away and do some other tasks.
    TIA
    Ellis

    Hi Robert,

Are you using GSS 2.5? If so you can create iso from GBW with winpe. You can also add you gho files though add files & you can add custom commands to start.bat which is the last page of GBW when creating any package.

    >>and when I look for my image files, they are not there

You will not see the added files in the ramdrive(X: ), but those files should be added to cd. Can you access the cd using a drive letter? If no, can you try assigning a drive letter with diskpart.

    Regards,

Yes I'm using GSS 2.5. I've tried adding my gho files through add files and customizing the start.bat file at the end. Ghost starts, I select local, from image, and when I select the image from the drop down list, it says that it is not a valid gho image. I've made sure that both the gho and ghs are included when I created the iso file. Do I need to create a bootable cd/dvd when creating the iso through GBW? I'm trying to make this as easy as possible for some remotes sites so they can reimage some laptops without having to send them back to me.
Any more help / suggestions would be appreciated.

    thx

    Hi Robert,
For now I wouldnt recommend using GBW to add image to your CD. Reason is that GBW will be compiling those files into the WIM file together with ghost exetables. This will take long time and because files will be copied to RAM drive when Winpe boots you may have problems with that too. Perhaps problem you experience is exactly that - we have seen that when there isnt enough space in RAM drive then copy files into RAM succeeds but file content are garbaged. GBW will have a different approach to additional user files in he not distant future. It will treat user added files as special and will add them to contents of a CD rather than packing them into WIM. Todya's GBW add files feature wasnt really designed for huge images. For now I'd recommend to create two DVDs - one with Winpe and ghost files by GBW and the other one containing purely your images.
