Hello.

Does symantec make Microsoft Patch (msp) files available for product upgrades?  I'm currently looking at upgrading Symantec End Point Protection v11 from MR3 to MR4.  I've found the upgrade executables which Symantec provides like this one

SEP32_2224To2295_clientMSPMSI.exe

and it does work.  I'm just wondering why and exe and not an msp?

Any information would be appreciated.

Craig.

Nope you found the 'client

Nope you found the 'client only' updates.  I'm not sure why they don't make the msp type available.

We do use MSP files for

We do use MSP files for patches, and sometimes hotfixes, but not for Maintenance Releases. What you intend to do here is upgrade from one Maintenance Release to another Maintenance Release, not a patch, so there will be no MSP available.
