  • 1.  Available for Use field not staying populated!

    We are running into a pretty serious issue that I will be placing a ticket about but wantetd to know if anyone had a suggestion. We use the "Available for Use" field as the purchase date of an asset. This is important because when we run a report to retire out assets we need to know when they were actually purchased to do so. For no apparant reason, since it worked in the past, that field will allow us to populate it when editing an incident and when we apply the edits it will gray itself out however with the red 'x' correclty showing next to the calendar icon, however when we click OK to close the window and then re-open the asset to look, that field has reverted back to nothing and when I run a report looking at the database that field is certainly blank! 

    This is no good at all so any help would be appreciated.

    A little more investigation....

     

    It appears, at least to us, that this is a bug. If I set the date, click Apply and then close the window with the "x" then the date is set correctly! It is only on the inital OK that it blanks out (subsequent opennings leave it set correctly). Also if, instead of pressing Apply we press OK then the date sticks so it has something to do with applying the changes and then pressing OK with the date field grayed out and yet correct which is causing the problem. 

    I will submit it to support as a bug but at least we know what's causing it and how to avoid it.

    Hi,

     

    I am submitting a case for this as well on monday. I have prepared a 6 page document with screenshots for this one :)

    It is not only the two date fields, but also the book depreciation field which gets cleared if you use default CMDB values.

     

    Also this behaviour seems to be occuring after setting a value which triggers a popup or drop downlist, such as filling in the manufacturer/model fields or setting cost center ownership.

     

    Even more, if you set default values for the book depreciation field and then lookup the manufacturer or model it gets cleared. If you then want to select the book depreciation again it not only gives you a popup to select a depreciation schedule, but also a whole new asset popup comes on top of that!

    btw, I have reproduced this in three diferrent and clean ITMS 7.1 SP2 environments. So I suppose it is definitely a bug.

    One other addition to this and probably caused by the same issue...if we use Barcode Solution and scan in an asset and set the Available_for_Use date on the device, the date does not stick at all..which is pain in the rear when we are receiving hundreds of items at once and then have to go back in and modify the date.

     

    Any word from your ticket?

    Hi,

    Just had a webex session early this week with support to show and detail on the problem.

    They now fully understand the issue and propably this one will go to the backline team..

     

    If any updates on this, I will update the post.
