Happens after I get GSS 3.0 (Build 1252) w/ HF1 installed on either Windows 2008 R2 or Windows 2012 R2 servers.  Everything is installed from scratch. I get the following errors in Event Log:

Since this is an error within the Altiris server itself, have you posted this question to the appropriate forum for your Altiris product?

Did you enable encryption on the GSS 3 server?.  if so you also have to do so for all the clients.   I don't know exactly what the error would be with them mixed but it would be a failure if only one side was enabled.

I am seeing these errors in event logs as well. Axengine.exe and a couple DLLs seem to be crashing. I also see SQL Server does not exist or access denied. ConnectionOpen (Connect()). Clients and GSS Server lose communication periodically.

"Encrypt session communication with Ghost Solution Suite Server" is enabled on clients and the GSS Server. Is that what is meant by "enable encryption on the GSS 3 server" in ICHCB's post?

I don't know if this is related, but we are attempting use a separate partition on the server for image creation and distribution. I cannot get that to work. I can post a separate message about that if need be.

    I'm using Windows Server 2012 R2 and GSS 3, HF3.

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.

I too keep seeing this error also.  It's happened six times (according to event viewer) today.  I keep restarting the process "Altiris eXpress Server".

I am running Ghost Solution Suite 3.1 (Build 275) on Windows Server 2012R2

Thanks. It must be a mix deployment. In order to get it working I had to uncheck the "Allow encrypted session" in the Transport menu of the GSS Configuration Options program. Also, my clients needed the "Encrypt session communication with GSS server" unchecked in the Agent settings.

Kind of annoying that it causes it to crash if there's mixed agents instead of just denying the connection.

Please raise these cases with Symantec Support. They will likely ask you to put in a debugger to collect these crash dumps for further analysis.

If you have a problem opening a case, ping back on this thread.

In fact... also post your case numbers too -that way everyone can link up their cases so that support understand it's a multiple customer issue.

Thanks for the posts on the dagent crashing.   We do need to log a case on these.     Ian has a good post on how to enable logging once you have the debugging files but we don't have them at this moment for 3.1.  We have them for 3.0 HF4 and HF5.

Please create a case and we will be able to get you the 3.1 debugging files as soon as we have them.    The crash doesn't happen on demend and very infrequently in my lab so I appreciate every one's assistance with gathering the dump file from this situation.
