Back-end OWA Question

Here is the scenario:

We are logged into the root domain. The root domain is different than the domain we will be operating in.

root=domain1.local
operational domain (smtp domain)=internet.com

We install the backend extensions while logged into the root domain on the exchange server.

What switches and syntax are necessary for us to see the icons in owa using the operating domain?

Thanks,

Chris

I would try one of the following:

Run This script from the command line:
Cscript backend2003setup.wsf /regform /formregmbx:(get system MB from .wsf log) /dnsdomain:(smtp domain of the system mailbox)

or
Cscript backend2003setup.wsf /regform /formregmbx:(get system MB from .wsf log) /logondomain

or
Cscript backend2003setup.wsf /regform /formregmbx:(get system MB from .wsf log) /formregdomain

Are you able to log into the child domain and run the owasetup? That has worked in the past.

Chris Barnes's picture

When logged into the child domain were are getting:

ERROR: ADO connection error: -2147217895 Object or data matching the name, range
, or selection criteria was not found within the scope of this operation.
ERROR: Failed to make ADO connection to: ...SystemMailbox{8F1167C5-3124-4789-97D3-5C1F8B37C7AF}/%23%23SchemaURI%23%2
3/

When logged into the root domain the error is not occuring but we are not able to find system mailboxes as posted earlier.

TonySterling's picture

are you using the script in the child domain?

you can use this system mailbox SystemMailbox{8F1167C5-3124-4789-97D3-5C1F8B37C7AF} in the script.

Also, if you get the same ADO connection error: -2147217895 Object or data matching the name, range, or selection criteria was not found within the scope of this operation.
Check the following;
Open Active Directory Computers and Users
Click View>Advanced Features
Expand Object>Click Microsoft Exchange System Objects
Find the SystemMB from the .wsf log and make sure it is not Disabled or Hidden.
To check if it is hidden open the properites of the Mailox and Click the Exchange Adv. tab

the config is supposed to unhide and enable the systemmailbox, but I have seen it not work.
