Hi all,
I am running Symantec back up exec for servers 10D was not backing up cause of a corupt file- it would give a failure error message, and kicked out the tape- I omitted the corrupted file and it ran, except that it ran out of space, and was asking for another media tape- strange cause the back up is about 63gb and the tape is 72gb- maybe the tape was bad, (in use since 2007) so I am trying another tape tonight. tape is HP dat 72 C8010A

Any ideas out there?

Thanks

Compression

With that tape media, the native capacity is 36Gb, and the compressed capacity is 72Gb, so to be honest you're lucky to actually get 63Gb on it.  If you don't want to start having to swap tapes, you might need to think about upgrading your backup drive to a higher capacity.

An LTO1 sounds like it would

An LTO1 sounds like it would fit your needs and there should be some decent bargains if you would consider a used drive.  LTO has a nice upgrade path.

If you find this is a solution for the thread, please mark it as such.
