This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi All,
We have backUp Exec 12 installed on one of our NAS boxes. We write to a Dell Powervault 114T LTO drive. The problem started off when one of the IT team on the site Deleted the back up jobs that were set up.(Dont ask me why) now when i have recreated the jobs and tried to run the the inventry on the tape so that i can label it i get the message that there are no available devices. When i check the LTO drive in the devices on the console it says the device is in use. Is there anyway that we can find out what is using the device?

Things we have tried to resolve this issue:
a, tried to stop and start the services. (this caused the services to hang when stopping. It would not restart after waiting for 15-20 mins)
b, Re-booted the server which kicked the services back into life. ( I am sceptical about rebooting this again as it has to be done out of work hours and has not resolved the issue)
c, Have rebooted the tape drive.

Any help in this would be much welcomed.

Regards Charlie

Also another thing have tried

Also another thing have tried is to disable the drive. This then states that the drive is disabled but in use.

Right re-booted the Tape

Right re-booted the Tape drive, then the server. The Server Picked up the tape drive and all is now working as it should be.
