  • 1.  Background activities freezes computer

    We just rolled out the cloud version of endpoint protection at a client site.

    All stations work fine, with one exception.

    On one station, the computer freezes as soon as the endpoint protection does start background activity.

    Any hints what could cause this, and perhaps a way to disable them ?

    I suppose thats the initial scan which runs after the SEP install, it should be fine after sometime. Did you reboot after the install?

    Yes,

    we did reboot after install.

    This happens every day, 2-3 times a day.

    Are you able to see what process is causing this?

    No,

     

    Symantec is just displaying "Performing background activities" and then Mouse&Keyboard freeze for good

    It turned out to be a partially defective Dell SSD.

     

    Problem solved.
