Backing up a cluster - awareness of mid backup failover?

Created: 08 Apr 2005 • Updated: 02 Mar 2009

I thought this was a fair question to ask my vendor but they had no idea and basically left it with me to find out. I've just started a new job and all kit for major network overhaul is already ordered. Included in this is an HP MSL5030 tape library and an ML360 server to drive it, running Veritas BE 10. We also have 3 DL380 clusters arriving (2 node each). I asked the question - is this backup solution cluster aware, i.e. if it is backing up a cluster and a node fails mid backup will it continue to backup when the other node takes over or will it just give up? Or maybe start again?

Is this not a fair question?

Thanks in advance
