Backing Up DFS info

Created: 08 Jan 2013 | 2 comments

I've searched the site for info on this, but the solutions I found don't work for me.  I've got multiple external servers that all use DFS to replicate date back to a central server.  The central server stores the replicated data to an ISCSI device, attached as the D: Drive.  I've setup multiple backup policies, one for each external servers replicated data.  However, even though the backup says it was successful, it is only a few kb in size.  I've setup the Windows Open File Backup and checked that snapshot provider is set to Volume Shadow Copy Service.  When I browse for the folder to replicate, I'm only receiving the following options:

What do I need to do in order for my backups to successfully run?

Did you enable the Option "Cross Mount Points" in the policy attributes?

if not, please enable it and do the backup again..

and check in BAR window for files...

you sould get the files in backup image.

DFS / DFSR is incuded in System State backup. It can not be backed up as normal files. Please check this TN.

BTW, It is curious that System State in "All folders" tree has no child objects.
Please check if "Volume Shadow Copy" service is disabled.  This happens when "Volume Shadow Copy" service is disabled - set to Automatic.
