Does anyone know if it is possible to backup the active server node which is partcipating in a CCR cluster to tape. My setup consists of server1 at site1 and server2 at site 2. Each site has it own tape fibre channel LTO3 libraries and we are running windows 2008 + Exchange 2007 SP2. I have seen the dcoument that refers to a disk based back up for a CCR Exchange cluster, but I have netbackup installed on the servers in a non clustered SAN media configuration. I want to backup to tape but using the virtual exchange cluster name of MAILSRV1. Can this be done by creating an alias to associate the cluster name MAILSRV with server1 and likewise for server2 on the site2. When creating the storage unit for the backup to tape, I would like to specify MAILSRV1 as the alias for the media server in the STU to tape instead of Server1 which would be the normal setup and bould by licensing restrictions. I understand if a failover was to take place then a manual switch would be required on the policy so the write STU was used to prevent a network backup.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

We are running Windows 2003 Master running Netbackup 6.5.5 and the same on the exchange servers.

create virtual storage unit

Use these two TechNotes to create STU for virtual name:
ftp://exftpp.symantec.com/pub/support/products/NetBackup_Enterprise_Server/276122.pdf

http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/285451.htm

The 1st doc was writen for 5.1 and the TechNote explains how to add the App Cluster name to EMM for 6.x.
