Backing up Hyper-V VM's

This issue has been solved. See solution.
My larger challenge will be getting from 11d to Continous Protection for Hyper-V.
Can anyone chime in on how they backup their SQL/Exchange (any DB) VM's. Do you just backup VHD's; or do you actually perform application aware backups of the databases from Symantec Backup Exec?
Looking for strategies....

You can do both with the newer releases of BE. To backup the VM's as VM, you would need 1 Hyper-V agent per VM host. To backup each application, you would need 1 Agent for Applications and Databases for each application/database for each machine. You can do GRT restores of files, Exchange, SQL databases and AD from your VM backup.
You might also want to look at the V-Ray edition if you have a lot of VM's to back up.
