We have a linux server that I can't install Netbackup on but I need to backup the data.  I have the shared file but if I map it to a different server Veritas still dosn't see it since it is not a physical drive.

Is there a way to do this?  I swear I have done this before but I can't find anything in my notes, any help would be great.

Follow NFS

Remember to select 'Follow NFS' in Policy attributes in addition to specifying the mount point in Backup Selection.

It MIGHT be possible to

It MIGHT be possible to select 'Backup network drives', specify UNC path in Backup Selection, change NBU Client Service logon account to user with sufficient access, BUT it is never a good idea to backup Unix/Linux data with a MS-Windows policy. File permissions and attributes will not be backed up correctly.

I agree - rather NFS mount on a Unix/Linux box and backup from there.
