Backing up a Shared Folder on QNAP

Created: 10 Dec 2012 • Updated: 27 Dec 2012 | 2 comments
This issue has been solved. See solution.

I have a QNAP NAS Device where I have a share setup. I am able to backup the share successfully, however, I get the following warning: V-79-57344-3844 - The media server was unable to connect to the Remote Agent on Machine xxx. The media server will use the local agent to try to complete the operation.

My understanding is that the Backup Exec Service cannot be installed on a QNAP, so we need to use a username and password that has access to the share to run the backup. My question is this, is there a way to change the backup job to use the username and password first befoe it tries using the Backup Exec Remote Service? We want to try to keep the backup jobs clean with no errors or warnings.

Thanks,

V-79-57344-3844 - The media server was unable to connect to the Remote Agent on machine xxx.

No.  There is no way to get rid of this error message.  You would just have to live with it.
