backing up SQL2008Express from SBS2003

Created: 18 Oct 2010 | 2 comments

Hello All,

My question, if you have time, is this:-

We run BE 12.5 on a SBS2003 box with all the Small Business agents in place. We are trying to backup a SQL2008Express instance running on a second box but the Job-Setup pane in BE 12.5 doesn't display the SQL2008 instance on the second box.

I'm pretty sure this has this been encountered before but would like to know how to solve this.

Thank you

Do you have a license for the remote SQL install? The Backup Exec SBS license only covers the SQL instance on the local server, so you will need an additional license for the remote SQL server.

Ensure that the latest Service Pack is installed for Backup Exec 12.5 as support for SQL 2008 was added later. Following is the link to download and install SP4 for BE 12.5:
