This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi,

I have client with the following setup, 1 HP server running SBS 2011 with NAS.

I am currently testing backup exec 2012 trail  for their backup solutions, in the past when I backup SBS I can which mailbox I want to backup and which one I want to exclude, but backup exec 2012 trial doesn't give me that option, by the look of it, it backup the whole information store only.

so I assume when I try to restore it, it only give option to restore the whole information store database?, does not have option to restore indiviual mailbox?

Is it because I am testing using trial?

Thank you.

Regards

You back up the entire information store with GRT enabled.  When you do a restore, you would be able to choose which mailbox to restore

Hello Haris,

With the GRT(Granular Restore technology) option checked during the backup you can restore even individual email items as well. Please note that if backing up to tape at the time of restore you need local free disk space of upto or more than the size of that particular exchange database from which you want to restore individual items. Also please make sure at the time of backup the option to "Enable resore of individual items using GRT is checked". You will find this option in the Microsoft exchange tab of the backup job properties. As you are in a testing phase you may test this out and let us know if any issues you face.
