Backup and Restore in same job

I've been trying to figure out how to create a job that will backup up a file and when done restore that exact file to a different server. I'm guessing it's a command line code within the job but I'm unsure. Is there any easy way to do this?

Hi,

Not possible to do both. You can schedule a backup, but the restore would be manual from what I have seen. A couple of people have asked the same thing over the past couple of months, but an automated restore is not possible.

Thanks!

Cannot have one job. It will have to be two separate jobs. The backup job can be scheduled & hence automated to backup specific files, however the restore job itself cannot do that. In other words, you will have to setup the restore job manually to restore the backed up file.

Bummer... so a restore job cannot be a scheduled job?

Nope, not at all. I remember someone asking the same thing a couple of months ago and 1 of the Symantec employee stated this wasn't an option as unwanted restores could be done, potentially overwriting production data.

Thanks!

I could throw together a command line and use the becmd to run after the backup job is complete correct?

Nope.  To do a restore with BEMCMD, you need to which backup set you are using which you would not know until the backup job is done.
