Backup creates a snapshot instead of running a standard full backup

Hi,

I recently took over managing netbackup for my company and we are currently in process of migrating from netbackup 5.1 to netbackup 6.5.  I am trying to move one of the clients over, and everytime I try to run the backup in the new environment it tries to create a snapshot instead of doing the full backup.  I have looked at all the policies attributes and I can't find anything to suggest why this is happening.  I am hoping that someone here can shed some light on the subject, or point me in the right dirrection of where to look

Thanks

Have you got Windows Open File Backup set for this client?

From the Admin Guide:

"...

Snapshots are a point-in-time view of a source volume. NetBackup uses snapshots to access busy or active files during a backup job.

..."

Check in: NetBackup Management > Host Properties > Master Servers > <Master Server> > Client Attributes > Windows Open File Backup tab

If the Client isn't in the list you'll have to add it if you need to make any changes. I believe WOFB is enabled by default, so if the client isn't in the list WOFB will be on.
