This issue has been solved. See solution.
Hi,
If I have a BackupExec 12.5 on a server and I have a Tape device in another server (that currently is not used as a backup server) Can I install a media server on that server and use that tape to backup to from the first BackupExec Server?
If this is possible what license do I need and how do I set this up?
P.S
I do not what to use the second server as a additional Backup Server I want to configure all jobs from my Original server

Hi D.S,
In this configuration, no. If it is SCSI/SAS, you cannot share that particular type of hardware, and backup from another server.
Using a SAN-attached library it is defnitely possible via Backup Exec SAN SSO...that would require full versions of BEWS on every server that is SAN-attached as well in order to utilise the full speed of the SAN.
My suggestion would be to move your backup device from your 2nd server to the first if possible, otherwise you won't have a choice but to use the 2nd server.
Laters!

You would need the SAN SSO option as suggested by Craig. if you dont want to purchase any license you need to move the tape drive to the orignal server and backup the other server using the remote agent ...you can also move the all the configuration from the orignal server to the new server so that you dont need to recreate all the jobs and configure everything all over again .
If this response answers your concern, please mark it as a "solution"
...if you use server #2, you are able to move your catalogs and DB across to that server.
If you find this is a solution, please mark it as such.
Hi there D.S,
Have you come right here? If so, can you close this off with a solution?
Thanks!
