Backup to Disk, to backup to tape Please Read

Hi Guys,

Here is my question

Imagine several servers All that have data to be backed up (Servers D-1, D-2, D-3, C1, C2 C3)

I want to setup two media servers to backup the above servers to disk

So D-1, D-2, D-3 gets backed up to BMedia1 (BAckup to disk)

C1, C2 C3 gets backed up to Bmedia2 (Backup to Disk)

Now I want another media server with LTO Library's to backup the data on each server

The qustion is HOW ?I can

create a policy on the Bmedia1/2 To backup the data - now worries and if I attache the tape drive I can get it to duplicate the data to Library, but I dont want that I need to be able to backup the backed up data all the time off both servers..

Thoughts appreciated on this one Folks !

TIA

Jez

If the library is connected to a SAN and then to both servers you can then use SSO to share the library.

If both media servers are in the same location then share the library betweeen them using SAN technology and then use the CASO and SSO capabilities that are part of the ESO license making one of the servers into a CAS/Primary that controls the library access.

If the media servers are in two different locations then you may need to look at Dedup with Optimized duplication and tehn duplication to tape to achiove what you want with the library connecetd to one of the servers. This will need both ESO and Deduplication licenses as well as a fast, reliable WAN link between the locations.
