Backup to disk from disk to tape.

Hi there,
We currently backup to disk weekly, and also backup to tape every weekend. We would like to move to backup to disk, then back that up to tape, but this then means we are backing up the .bkf files. Is there any way to backup the disk backups while retaining the ability to restore from the tape?
