Backup-to-Disk File Size Problem

Server: Small Business Server 2003 Premium R2 SP2
BEWS: 11.0 7170, Hotfixes 3, 4 and 5 installed

Backup-To-Disk folders have been created on an external Western Digital 500GB hard drive connected to the server via USB 2.0. The "Maximum Size for Backup Disk Files" is large, 40GB to 60GB, with our goal being to have each backup reside in one file.

Problem: The backup jobs are all writing multiple 4GB files to the Backup-to-Disk folders, ignoring the size I have set.

Your help is appreciated.

Thanks... Tony

Tony,

You might have formatted the drive with FAT32, which has a 4GB limit, instead use NTFS format.

Hopefully, this will do the "trick" - please let me know.

Christiane

Christiane,

That was it! The drive had been formatted FAT32. After reformatting NTFS it worked as expected.

Thank you!
