Backup to Disk folder reports low disk space
BackupExec 2010 installed on Server 2008 R2 64Bit. Was working fine for a month up until mid last week when we changed the logon credentials for the domain. Updated the logon account credentials in BackupExec and since then the backups have been failing due to virtual memory running low which was resolved when I raised the page file size. After rebooting the server, BackupExec asked for me to bring the backup to disk folder online and errored out on the backup due to low disk space on backup destination.
There is a low disk threshold set to 25GB. The NAS that the backup to disk folder resides on has almost 2TB of free space on it at the moment. The retention period is set for 5 days. I tried creating a new backup to disk folder ut I keep getting an access denied as soon as the wizard is done. I am using the account that is specified as the logon account as well and it is part of the backup operators group in AD.
Anyone have any suggestions? Called symantec but they told me the following which did not help me out at all. Thanks.:
There could be two reasons for the above mentioned issue.
1) GUI is not updated after making the space available on the drive where Backup to Disk folder is located.
2) The advance tab on the Backup to Disk folder has a threshold reserve space set.
Solution:
To eliminate the GUI issue try to pause and unpause the Backup to Disk folder or just simply try to close and reopen the Backup Exec console.
Also check if the threshold value for Backup to Disk folder is properly set.

Hi, Have you tried to
Hi,
Have you tried to recreate the B2D folder in BE, or simply reinventorying the B2D folder?
If you find this is a solution, please mark it as such.
RE:Backup to Disk folder reports low disk space
Does the new service account have sufficient rights on the share and the volume itself?
Logon to the media server as the service account and map the share that you are trying to create a B2D folder on and create a TEST.TXT file in it to verify (if it succeeds, remember to remove the test file)
If this response answers your concern, please mark it as a "solution"
Tried that
I tried to recreate the B2D folder in BE and received an access denied even though the service account has access rights. I could navigate to the NAS directory and create the folder manually and try to make BE point to that folder but I get the same thing.I tried to reinventory the folder and that job fails.
The service account is the only one I use to log on to the media server and that login has domain admin rights.
Solved
Found the solution. For some reason the login credentials for the NAS had to be changed to match the logon account that is associated with BackupExec. I find it strange seeing as the server has autmoatic access to the NAS and the NAS is outside of the domain. Once the credentials for the NAS was changed the test runs began working again. Thanks for those who took the time to help out.
