Backup- \\Exchange-Server\Microsoft Information Store\First Storage Group
Hi,
I am having an issue where every time I do an exchange backup I get the following error.
Final error: 0xE00084af - the directory or file was not found, or could not be accessed.
Backup- \\INTIME-ML350\Microsoft Information Store\First Storage Group
Database was not found, or could not be accessed.
Database was not found, or could not be accessed.
This is occurring on every backup after every backup, the necessary directories have been excluded from the backup and have done disk checks and defrags on the source partition as specified by the Symantec KB article.
This did seem to coincide with a drive being replaced in the raid due to a failure.
It is an SBS 2003 server running Mail, File, Print, DHCP, DNS, QuickBooks.
Need this fixed urgently and any help is appreciated.
Look forward to reading your solutions.

The error message you posted is generic error message from job log. To figure out the exact cause we will need to check error from debug log.
Is this backup going to backup to disk or tape? Do you have GRT enabled in the backup job?
If GRT is enabled and backup going to backup to disk then we need to check beremote debug from backup exec server.
If GRT is enabled and backup going to tape then we need to check beremote debug from exchange server.
Please enable debug logging and then run a backup of smalles database and post the failed job log and matching beremote debug log.
Have you tried to recreate your job select list?
If you find this is a solution, please mark it as such.
Hi,
sbroa,
can you post some info on how to check the debug log?
It is running to a Disk and we are running Exchange GRT
Craig, I created another job specificly for exchange and it still failed.

You need to review the debug log and check the entries during the GRT phase to figure out the error. To enable debug logging set the following key to 1 on both servers:
HKLM\Software\Symantec\Backup Exec for Windows\Backup Exec\Engine\Logging\CreateDebugLog
Debug log will be saved in \Backup Exec\Logs directory on backup exec server.
You need to check the servername-beremotexx.log file. If you can, then please attach the debug log + job log in your next post.
Also try a non GRT backup and check the result.
Note: make sure that you disable debug logging by setting the above key to 0 once you have generated the debug log.
Hi sbora,
I did a full backup with exchange GRT enabled and it was successful.
Will turn GRT back on so the error will be logged in the debug log.
Please see attached as requested.
Hello ,
The error in the debug log is:
