Hi There

I need to restore the content of a tape (LTO5) and i had a seocnd tape with the content i need.

When i first try to do so, the tape library went offline so had to reboot server & tape library to make it back up.

Then i try to use the second tape but it wouldn't let me do the restore until i import the tape then catalog it, which i did and ran an inventory on it as well. But that erased my tape! So now i just have one tape to play with.

I used HP Library and Tape Tools to check the tape and it found some errors just after 4gb of testing...

Error:

Verify command failed after reading 4574 MB Sense Key 0x04, Sense Code 0x4400 (Internal target failure) Error Code: 0xa053 srTSBCalibrationWatchdogTimeout (TSB calibration routine did not com...)

My question is, how can i restore from taht tape? Is there a way in BE to continue the restore even if something is corrupted?

Thanks!

No.  If the tape is bad, then BE cannot use it.

The more important question is whether it is just the tape that is bad or the tape drive is bad.  You should do the LT&T test again with another tape and check whether it passes all the tests.  Make sure that you select the write test.
