Backup Exec 12 corrupts Sony AIT1 driver
Created: 07 May 2008 | Updated: 02 Mar 2009
I've been running BEv9.x on my server successfully with a DAT drive, but have now upgraded to a Sony AIT1 SATA drive. Before paying for the upgrade licence, I installed the v11d demo which installed and ran successfully until it ran out just as BEv12 became available. Since installing the v12 demo, I've been unable to get v12 working with the SDX-470V drive I'm using, which as a small reseller is worrying me.
So, the situation is now as follows:
Install BEv12 with Symantec tape drivers - tape drive cannot be accessed.
Install BEv12 with Sony Windows drivers - tape drive is accessible for running an inventory of a tape and for re-labelling the tapes, but will not backup data generating error E00084F4 after a few minutes. The tape object in device manager shows the correct driver, but displays the error "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)". However, if Backup Exec is uninstalled and the server re-started, Microsoft Backup works fine.
Is there any else who has experienced this or a similar problem and could advise on the resolution?
