Backup Exec 12.5 Media server is crashed, but we have full backup of Backup Exec Media server is in 4 tapes, How can i recover the Backup Exec server's database and catalog from tape.

1) Install the OS

2) Install BE

3) Inventory and catalog the tapes.

4) re-direct the restore of the Data and Catalog directories under the BE installation directory which is usually c:\program files\symantec\backup exec\ to another directory

Hi pkh,

Thanks for your clarification,

If I ran Inventory and catalog the tapes. it will not delete the expired backup image in the tape, right ?

It will just update the catalog from the tape.s backup image.

No. Inventory, Catalog and restore will not affect the contents of the tape
