Hi symantec community,

I've been delving over PDFs and Manuals over all symantec and still cant get a straight response, even i tried to get email support (and telephone) and it redirects me to symantec connect.

The problem is that i need an official response from Symantec that Backup Exec 12.5 SP2 does not support security roles, and it depends entirely on windows permissions.

I know ofr fact that it is as im descrbing it, but still i need an official response for a report over an installation of Backup Exec.

anything that you recommend or require i'll be glad to help!

Thanks for your time!

I need the same information for our internal auditors

Charles, were you directed to any Symantec site that officially answers your question?

Sad but true there is no

Sad but true there is no facility native to BackupExec that gives role based administration to the console.  Last I checked that is.

NetBackup does which is Symantec's Enterprise product, but not BackupExec.  You can limit access to BackupExec through Group Policy, Symantec Endpoint Protection, and a few other tricks in Windows, but not within BE itself.

There is an online portal, save yourself the long hold times. Create ticket online, then call in with ticket # in hand :-) http://mysupport.symantec.com "We backup data to restore, we don't backup data just to back it up."
