Hi all,

I have a question regarding the use of VSS in backup exec.  We use backup exec 12.5 to backup a Exchange 2007 Mailbox server in a CCR configuration.

At the moment, i'm not using the AOFO option.  Because i'm not using it, does this mean that Backup Exec is carrying out a Streaming Backup?

In regards to VSS, if i start to use this, will it still use GRT to allow us to restore signle messages?

What are the benefits for using VSS?

Thanks in advance

Matt

does this mean that Backup Exec is carrying out a Streaming Backup? - No, Backup Exec uses VSS to perform a Snapshot backup of Exchange 2007 regardless of AOFO getting selected or not. Microsoft requires Snapshot backups for Exchange 2007, so Backup Exec has to use VSS for Exchange 2007 backups.

In regards to VSS, if i start to use this, will it still use GRT to allow us to restore signle messages? - As per my response above, it's already using it. It will still use GRT to allow single item restores.
