Created: 08 Oct 2010 | 5 comments

Hello,

I have just installed BE 2010 R2 on windows 2008 R2 x64 with sp1. When I try to create a new backup job , it takes 4 minutes although the popup says it can be take several minutes. Also the backup wizard goes not responding during this process !

is it normal ?

it is so boring . Also when I modify the job created before , it also takes too much time !

Is there anyone to help me ?

thanks in advance

This is not normal, but I had experienced the same thing with 12.5 on 2003 R2 once.  I simply reinstalled the app on top of itself, performing a repair.  That in my case fixed it.

It could for you?

There is an online portal, save yourself the long hold times. Create ticket online, then call in with ticket # in hand :-) http://mysupport.symantec.com "We backup data to restore, we don't backup data just to back it up."

Thank for your reply .

Unfortunately , I also formated the server and installed the server with smartstart cd .

The installation process was Ok . The program started normally but when I created a new job , It took many minutes to create it .

In addition to this , the services did not stopped , after minutes it was created.

Yes , all windows service packs and patches and symantec updates were already applied.

I guess that the server are trying to communicate all  servers backup exec client enabled .

There are 20 servers to backup up .

Any idea ??

So it is an HP server...have you checked the System Management Homepage to make sure you have no hardware alerts?
Does the server perform poorly with other applications, or only BE?
