Backup Exec 2010 GRT exceptions
Created: 11 May 2012 | 11 comments
Hi
I have 2 Hyper V servers...yesterday i decided to move one virtual machine from the one HyperV host to the Other one using export--import function. The virtual machine i used was a fileserver..The other day i came back tothe office the directory of the fileserver with the user files that i wanted to backup...it was full of exceptions in the backup exec for all the files.. Directory does not support Granular Recovery Technology (GRT)......
It has to do with the VHD because of the export and import to the other Hyper v host?

Hi,
Open up your selection list, and deselect the server's selections (either drives or the actual VM), and then reselect them.
Run the job again and see if you get similar issues.
Thanks!

it is the same....
i found that the exception comes up with specific files inside the virtual machine....
i am backing up the whole virtual machine from the host using GRT.
...and the RAWS agent is installed in the VM and publishing correctly to the media server, as well as showing up as started?

yes everything with RAWS is ok....correct publish tothe media server....no update needed and started with windows
as i can see from the warning list.....all the files that are in the exception list that does not support granular recovery....the name of the files are in "greek language"..
...what files are these?

are micorsoft office word documents
...OK. So open up your selection list and see if there are any exclusions in there for .doc files.

there are no exclusions...it is a virtual machine. it is just a Vhd file with GRT enabled....the problem is that backup exec says for some directories in the VM Directory does not support Granular Recovery Technology (GRT).
...OK. Create a new selection and a test job that is assigned that selection list. Once done, try running the backup again and see if you get the same error...
